SUMMARY STATEMENT
Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a SQL Data Analyst to support retail merchandising systems and data operations for a leading retail client. This is a IT-facing role focused on heavy SQL usage, data validation, and working with retail systems such as RMS and data pipelines. The role supports business teams by ensuring accurate product, inventory, and sales data across systems and by delivering actionable insights.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use SQL extensively (daily) to extract, analyze, and validate large-scale retail data including sales, inventory, SKU performance, and product hierarchy
- Perform data validation and reconciliation across multiple systems to ensure consistency between RMS, ETL pipelines, and reporting layers
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies by tracing issues across source systems and data pipelines
- Work closely with ETL processes to understand data flow and ensure accurate data integration
- Support data quality checks, issue debugging, and data lineage tracking in retail data environments
- Utilize Retail Merchandising Systems (RMS) for item setup, product hierarchy, and inventory workflows
- Provide data-driven insights to support merchandising decisions, inventory planning, and product performance analysis
- Support production data issues and ongoing system operations within merchandising platforms
- Collaborate with offshore teams for daily coordination, issue tracking, and delivery alignment
- Document data issues, fixes, and business rules for consistency across teams
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 3–8 years of experience as a SQL Data Analyst in retail or similar data-heavy environments
- Strong SQL expertise (complex joins, aggregations, data validation, performance tuning)
- Experience working with Retail Merchandising Systems (RMS) such as Oracle RMS or similar
- Experience with ETL/data pipelines and data integration workflows
- Strong understanding of retail data (sales, inventory, SKU-level analysis, product hierarchy)
- Experience troubleshooting data inconsistencies across systems
- Ability to work in onshore and offshore coordination environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with large retail organizations (sporting goods, grocery, or big-box retail)
- Exposure to BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Strong Excel skills for analysis and reconciliation
- Familiarity with retail merchandising workflows
